Fortunate enough to have a chance to tour the facility. Very cool to see. Most things you buy in a grocery store you have no idea how it got to you, and lots of companies don't care to show the public their facilities. At Wicks you get to follow the entire process, from raw ingredients to packaged pies and pie crusts. They run an impressive production line with just enough automation to keep up with demand, while still maintaining a solid human workforce that handles every step of the process with extremely critical quality control. Wicks uses the best of both worlds, automation and human touch, old equipment kept in perfect condition and new equipment to boost productivity. They buy local, support local, and stand strong as a loyal Hoosier business. After having the tour it really made me never want to buy a pie that isn't a Wicks pie. How could I buy anything else after I've seen the place and people who make Wicks? Thanks for a great tour, and fantastic pies. If you get the chance, take a tour, and ask your local grocery store to get wicks pies if they don't have them already.
The food isn't anything to write home about. Some of the pies are quite good. Some of them are abominations. It's basically a 50/50 shot of that.
Lived in Greenville for most of my life and drove to Winchester for mrs wicks pies. Now that i live in SC, i swing by when visiting family. Hopefully ill make it by Thursday or Friday this week when i visit family
